What’s your new year’s resolution this year? 2013 is a whole new chapter and a blank slate for all of us to start over. What have you decided to change? What do you want to improve?
Even if it is a new year, most of our resolutions tend to stay the same. After all the food and the laziness that surrounds Christmas time, many people decide to get fit, get healthy, eat better, manage stress, etc. The question isn’t what our resolutions will be, but how we are going to accomplish them. There are so many different programs out there that can help keep you on track, but mostly it just takes a whole lot of discipline. You can always buy a gym membership and make a whole list of plans but the only way to see results is to find a source of motivation. Without continuous motivation, people tend to forget why they chose a certain new year’s resolution, especially when they start to realize how easy it is to eat all those pastries when they know why they stopped in the first place.
Come up with your own source of motivation! For whatever you’re trying to change, make sure to take a before picture and put it somewhere you can always see it. Don’t let yourself forget the goal, or the reason. Make little milestones/rewards along the way that you can look forward to. You could buy yourself something nice (a size too small) and hang it up it your room, so that you have a reason to lose that extra weight. When you accomplish part of your task, reward yourself! Your mind will recognize this and you will want to do whatever you did to give yourself a treat more. Try to turn it into a game, make it fun or do anything that will push you to achieve your goal. So don’t give up on your New Year’s Resolution just yet!
